Oh, it so rarely happens that a modern romance novel makes my brain associate its story with poetry! Yet, this book brought back to me the wonderful words of Sergey Yesenin's "Azure Space","Gentle step, graceful waist that you have! Oh, if only you were able to tumble How a bully can really love, And how he can be timid and humble!"This book is an excellent blend of characters and action. Here we have the big, mean, tough Kazimir, who'd do anything to achieve his goal. Up to one point. And we have Sadie, a shy book-lover, who'd do anything to be ignored by everyone. Again, up to a point. At first, the story tackles the kidnapping theme which one can find in almost every dark novel. Truth be said, the kidnapper is quite gentle with his victim. Although his intentions are not honorable, he doesn't seek blind obedience, he'd rather go for cooperation. And, much to his dismay, Kazimir falls for Sadie's strength, honesty, and innocence. The little miracle they conceive makes him decide to change his life and give up working for the evil side.Sometimes, it is not the most vocal or the most visible who is the most powerful. Sometimes, the meek is stronger. Sometimes, somewhere, someone gets a second chance to do things right. The twist of this story is that its dark theme brings such an optimistic view of life that it will be really enthralling to dwell in its pages.

This is the first book that I have read from this author. The story is interesting in the beginning but does not live up to the hype of being a “dark” read. The characters were a bit on the weak side and the storyline was not very exciting.

I am a huge fan of Jane Henry's and was excited to see that she has started a newseries.Brarva's baby is a darkly erotic power exchange with a surprising twist.Talk about forbidden fruit! Kazimir's plans consisted of four simple steps.Capture, marry, inherit and make Sadie disappear for good.Saddie lives for her books, theyare her only friends. They know what's in her heart and dreams and Sadie dreamsof a romantic, dominant hero. Was it danger or heroism that awaits her,or both.Ifelt her fear, her despair and pain as she cowed down time and time again intosubjugation at Kazimir's hands.Despite the treatment at his hands she learnedto crave his mastery.Kazimir lived and pledged his life to Dimitri and the brotherhood of the Bratva. He had never before questioned his orders until meeting Sadie. He struggled with his growing feelings for her. Will his intensity and knowledgeof death and human depravity be enough to keep them both alive.I thought Kazimirwas going to be a one demensional character but he surprised me.Both charactersstruggled to overcome their pasts while trying to deal with their future. This story was remarkable!.It was the epitome of good was evil.It transport you toa world filled with immoral moneyed and corrupt, evil forces. This was an intenseread at times but I was absorbed by the story itself.I am impatiently waiting forthe next book in this series.

Another stellar book by Jane Henry. The story is interesting and engaging; you will come to care about the characters and find yourself rooting for their happiness and success. I loved this book and it’s a definite reread. I’m not one to give away the story, the blurb does that. Let this story unfold on its own and you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend it!

I loved this story. It had just enough darkness and a happy ending. That fact that two damaged people find happiness against all odds makes me happy. I love the fact that they ultimately end up with lives that help them heal. Wonderful book, a must read.

Gross storyline, soulless "hero", and a heroine who is too stupid to live. Really disappointed in Jane Henry for this one. Sexual assault is never sexy, people. Ew.

The book had 329 pages or 3425 locations on my kindle. The book was about a man, named Kazimir and a woman, named Sadie. Sadie was a 21 year old virgin, who grew up in abusive foster homes. Kazimir was 33 year old Russian, man, who also suffered as a child. Kazimir kidnapped Sadie, in order to one day inherit money. The book contained some heated oral sex and sex more than half way thru. The book also contained a collar, a chain, and multiple spankings with hands and a belt. I didn't like the characters. Sadie was a lonely, innocent, bookish, skittish, girl, who worked in a book store. Kazimir was a caring, forceful, dominant, powerful killer, who demanded and got respect. My issues with this book. Kazimir was jealous, possessive, caring, worrisome and besotted with Sadie. Sadie had a bit of fight in her, but she fell to quickly for Kazimir and his charms. He quickly became her lover and protector, instead of her abductor. Overall the Kazimir character was not dark enough for me. The Sadie character, caved in a bit too quickly, for my tastes.

Sadie is definitely a quiet young librarian who should never have ended up in the middle of the Russian mob. She changes Kalimir into a loving dominant man though.
