I'm a Harvard grad and 99% GMAT scorer who has been tutoring the GMAT for 15 years, and this is my favorite all-in-one GMAT preparation guide.As anyone who has prepared for the GMAT exam can tell you, there is no one book that can fully prepare you for this challenging computer-adaptive test. You will need a combination of Official Practice Questions such as the GMAT Official Guide Bundle The Official Guide to the GMAT Review 2017 Bundle + Question Bank + Video, The 6 Official GMATPrep Computer Adaptive Tests from GMAC, online learning forums such as GMAT Club, and strategy guides such as this one and the Manhattan GMAT Series Complete GMAT Strategy Guide Set (Manhattan Prep GMAT Strategy Guides) in order to maximize your score. In fact, you can also read my exhaustive review of the GMAT Official Guide Bundle (linked above) for a full list of my GMAT prep recommended materials.There are 3 main reasons why I appreciate this book:1) It features a detailed 40-day GMAT study plan, which can help you stay disciplined and organized, even if you have much more than 40 days to prepare.2) It does a great job of categorizing GMAT questions by type / sub-type and providing relevant practice questions / strategy advice.3) It contains very insightful advice on the analysis of an argument essay (AWA) portion of the test, including the CCRIQ assumption identification tool (Cause and Effect, Comparison and Analogy, Representativeness, Implementation, Questionable Evidence).Again, it is nearly impossible to write a single book that covers every aspect of a test as complex as the GMAT. However, "Ace the GMAT" is far better than any offerings I've seen from Kaplan, Princeton, or the like, and it's written in a very calm, no-nonsense tone that does not pander to the reader by oversimplifying, providing overly easy or overly complicated practice questions, or ignoring the obvious utility of the official materials and tests from GMAC. If anything, it is a bit outdated (on page 401, he refers to GMAT Club as "MBA Club"), but it is still the best all-in-one GMAT strategy guide I've found so far. Well done, Mr. Royal.

This lays out what you should do each day which is so helpful for someone like me who doesn't even know where to start. The answers give explanations as well instead of just the correct letter. I did find however that jumping straight in with this was a bit difficult as I needed to review some basic subjects first to not make stupid mistakes. I ended up getting The Ultimate Math Refresher for GRE, GMAT, and SAT as an add on to this and the two together did the trick. I highly recommend this book for anyone like me that needs the practice and schedule in a shorter amount of time.

More useful to use official gmat site

Finally! A GMAT textbook that breaks through the noise and focuses on the most commonly-tested question types that students will face on test day. When I founded my company Dominate the GMAT, I was looking for a quality textbook that I could provide my students as part of their course that would offer a great source of practice problems and complement my instructional videos in a value-added way. I looked at literally dozens of different books in the industry, but nothing was quite right. Until I found Brandon's book.There's much to like about this book, but three things in particular stand out to me. First, I like how Brandon groups problems together in "buckets." This makes it super easy to practice particular skills and hammer away at them until they're mastered. For example, if you're currently learning "triangles," there's a whole block of questions grouped together specifically about triangles. Same for Distance-Rate problems, mixtures, probability questions, etc. This is perfect for my course, where I can assign blocks of problems to be completed immediately after watching the instructional videos on corresponding topics, but it's also useful for the student who is trying to study on his/her own. Second, the buckets of problems are arranged in increasing order of difficulty with a "chili" rating acting as a guide. Take triangle questions again as an example. The first question in that bucket is a 1-chili question, meaning it's easy. It lets the student get her feet under her. Then the questions get increasingly difficult until the student is tackling 3-chili questions, proving they're ready for higher-level questions on the GMAT as well. It's a great way to build confidence while escalating your advanced understanding of each question type. Finally, most GMAT textbooks provide answer explanations that are very traditional in nature. But as I teach in my course, the way you were taught to do something in your high school algebra class isn't always the most efficient way to solve questions on the GMAT. I like how Brandon often provides a secondary answer explanation that takes this into account and gives students alternative ways of solving the same question.I wouldn't go as far as to say that this book is a complete stand-alone in terms of preparing for the GMAT on your own. While there's written instruction on the different topics tested on the GMAT (e.g. how to analyze arguments, how to tackle reading comprehension passages, how to think through data sufficiency questions, etc.), it's not as detailed or thorough as the do-it-yourselfer out there might be looking for (which is why I use it as a complement to the instruction I provide in my course, not a replacement for it) -- especially if you're trying to learn the GMAT from ground zero. But as a source of practice problems to get you ready for test day, there's nothing better out there -- and every prospective GMAT test taker should have this book in his/her library!

Well I didn't Ace the GMAT but I got a high enough score to get into grad school. The match section was very helpful in getting me back into that high school math train of thought.

A good study and worth a read.

It is very rare that I'll go back and reread the same book and even more rare for me to reread the same series, but I've recently finished Volume 5 (currently the latest release) and found myself instantly picking up Volume 1 and starting over again. I purchased the books individually and enjoyed each one, however after reading the first book, I instantly went and ordered the next 2 and impatiently waited for them to arrive. Save some time and order this awesome bundle of Volumes 1, 2 and 3 so you can enjoy them without delay! I wish this was available back when I first started the series.I've ordered print copies of Timothy Lambert's books, and they have all been printed at a comfortable size, easy to read fonts, and at excellent price points. Volumes 1 and 2 are overall a shorter read so having them bundled with volume 3 is an excellent option and if you are like me, and enjoy seamless transitions from book to book, this Omnibus would be perfect for you.The Gnostic Notebook series, though controversial to some, I found to be absolutely refreshing and thought provoking, and I believe Mr. Lambert is on to something that is worth looking at not only from a biblical history perspective but also from the clever art form of steganography used to encode cryptic messages in ancient manuscripts. The author leads us through a variety of methods used to encode hidden messages, deciphering their meanings, as well as providing a new commentary about what these texts may actually be hiding. These books help to open up our minds in a radical new way of biblical interpretation and leaves us pondering about what really happened, and what does it all really mean?

I was interested in the book, as it appeared in my suggestions, and it would seem to be something that would pique my interest. This is a fun, interesting story. It went fast for me. I am truly amazed at what the women and men who serve in our armed forces endure in overseas locations like Iraq and Afghanistan. Heidi does a great job describing the heat, the conditions and the environment. Hard to imagine dripping in sweat 24 hours a day... The story of her childhood, growing up and eventually meeting and marrying Jake is pretty cool. Thanks Heidi, for writing this book and a huge than you to both you and Jake from my family for serving and protecting this awesome country - USA.

Wow! I think I actually started sweating reading this book! Words cannot do justice for how wonderfully written "Honeymoon in Baghdad" is! As the author relives the struggles of love and war, you find yourself immersed in a way that makes you feel like you, too, are experiencing it! My heart pattered when reading about the love of a husband and wife and my adrenaline rushed as I read about their experience of living/fighting in a war zone together! Heidi Radkiewicz exemplifies what it means to have faith, strength, and smiles in the darkest of times. God bless this family, God bless our Veterans, and God bless this country that I love!

What an AMAZING story! I had to keep reminding myself that this is not fiction, but a real life story. Really puts things into perspective on what's important in life, how awesome it is to be an American, and that nothing is more important than family. I've never been in the military, but after reading about all of the things that this couple had to go through (while being newly married)....nothing less than amazing! Really fills you with a sense of pride for our country and for those people that serve to protect it. I loved this book, and you will too!!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It is something that will appeal to both men and women as there is both a war aspect and a fantastic love story. The book offers such a unique perspective that most books about war do not offer as the readers get to join newlyweds as they experience the start of their marriage overseas in a war torn country. It was a good and quick read that made me both laugh and cry. I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

Closing the cover after reading the final chapter, I paused. Thinking to myself, this wasn’t some tale I had just read, this is someone’s intimate story of their life. Their life with the good, the bad, and the ugly. Beautifully written, and with each turn of the page leaving you wanting more. An amazing true American Hero story. Thank you both for your service and sharing this incredible story of love and war. Love truly conquers all.

I loved this book. The author has a very easy, relatable style of writing. She has a great way of painting a picture in your head without it being too wordy. It sucks you in and before you know it you are almost done with the book. This true story made me want to get to know this amazing couple, and makes me appreciate our service people all the more. It will make you laugh, cry, blush and be thankful. Two thumbs up!

A refreshing change from my usual taste in books (sci-fi, fantasy, horror, etc). The author provided enough detail to make it interesting and kept things moving throughout the story. Definitely worth reading!

Mr Ridley offers a balanced overview of the Amarna Age and the people involved. He cites and examines all the hypotheses put forth by various scholars and writers over the last century and a half. Various authors, writing over many decades, have presented Akhenaten as a “saint” or a “monster”; he was neither. Many of these scholars and authors judged the Pharaoh by the standards of their own time and culture. Akhenaten was an individual human being, an Ancient Egyptian, an 18th dynasty pharaoh who lived circa 1350 BC. He was definitely judged by his successors; Horemheb and the 19th dynasty did their best to eradicate him from history. They didn’t foresee the rise of archaeology.Was Atenism monotheistic? In my opinion, yes. I am not an archaeologist or scholar, but I have read a lot about the Amarna Age. What Akhenaten did was unprecedented; there were no guidelines. How he came up with the idea of one god is unknown; he was apparently the first person to do so. In my opinion, Atenism did have an ethical content, but copies of this did not survive.At this late date and with the evidence being fragmentary, it is impossible to determine what the personalities of the people of that time were. Also, although we know the order in which the princesses were born, we don’t know which years they were born in. We don’t know how these people died, where, when, and why.But think of this, of all the founders and supposed founders of religions, Akhenaten is the only one for which we have the actual words of.

An exhaustive look at the vast writings we have concerning Egypt’s Amarna Period: what has been debunked, misinterpreted, or proved fanciful, and what little certainty remains from the physical and epigraphic evidence we presently have.Some readers might find the book a bit pedantic, but a committed Amarna student will find much of interest, such as the definitive exposition of Atenism, insightful collations of multiple scholarly interpretations, and a few surprise revelations. That said, in rare instances Ridley puts forward conclusions which some scholars might question: that Akhenaten was the father of Tutankhamen for example.In many ways the book is an amazing accomplishment.
