10/10/18. As others have related, this is NOT an introduction or simple guide or anything in the dummies tradition. It is more like an extended tips 'n' tricks puff for fairly knowledgeable photoshop users. It *says* in the blurb on the back "Pro photographers and graphic designers aren't the only ones who rely on Photoshop. Marketing or communications pros and hobbyist photographers to want to create top-quality images and presentations [blah blah]". So amongst all those pros hobbyists get a mention, but are obviously not the intended target of the book.And that's how it reads: endless pages of subtle wrinkles. I am one of the dummies who was disappointed; I actually have moderate experience with various other paint programs, and I did the time-limited photoshop demo, but I'm not going to pay for it 'cause the subscription is too much like slavery -- photoshop stops working entirely if you don't pay! So I was looking for something that'd tell me about how it worked, for occasional curiosity. This book isn't it.

Good update for people somewhat familiar with the old Photoshop. Handy reference or refresher.

Quite a disappointment based on previous For Dummies books. This book is about editing photos using Adobe Photoshop but the figures are such low resolution and use so much gray that they're impossible to read.

I preordered the book before seeing reviews and after struggling with it, I decided to come read other reviews to see if it was the book or if I'm just incredibly dense. I have a little knowledge of Photoshop but am finding this book beyond my capabilities. I guess if this is for dummies, I'm a complete moron.

This book for dummies is really written for someone who has a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. It doesn't start with the very basics.

My son likes the book. He is 2 1/2 yrs old. Since it is based upon the theme he likes: firetrucks and fireman and animals it was a good book. There was a story not just choppy words/fragments here and there. My son tends to like books with stories and the better their written the more he gravitates toward them.

Steven L. McShane is Winthrop Professor of Management at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Business School, where he receives high teaching ratings from students in Perth, Singapore, Manila, and other cities where UWA offers its programs. He previously taught in the business faculties at Simon Fraser University and Queen’s University in Canada. Steve has conducted executive programs with Nokia, TÜV-SÜD, Wesfarmers Group, Main Roads WA, McGraw-Hill, ALCOA World Alumina Australia, and many other organizations. I found a highly rated seller with a NEW one in the low 30s. I always pay for expedited shipping because USPS book rate can take a month to arrive. Still the book arrived new and fast -- in time for the first day of my wife's class. She is quite happy about that.

I rented this text book during a semester at college. It was very useful and informative. It was laid out really nicely and it was easy to remain focus on the reading. I got a B in the class as my professor forgot to erase the answers off of the study guide and he used it for the final because he didn't have enough time to make one. hahaha

Great book

I liked this textbook because it was easy to understand. There were alot of good examples and the language was very straight forward, it wasn't filled with technical terms (unless they were defined). I think that it was overpriced, especially for the Kindle version. I bought the hardback so that I could recoup some of my costs at the end of the semester but I would have preferred a cheaper Kindle version to begin with.
