My 17 month old has recently taken an interest in anything to do with animals, so when I saw this book, I decided to give it a try so I could read/show it to him. Overall, I am pleased with the book especially given that right now, it's free.Pros:- It has 50 pages of animals and animal facts. Granted, it's usually a 1-liner fact, but that's ok, it's intended for kids.- The pictures of animals are close up shots. Some of the books i've been reading to my son show the animal at a distance, or with other animals. This book, however, shows each animal solely so your child can easily distinguish which animal it is. There's also some funny looking shots of the animals.- It's a super easy read. If your kids are like my son, they're constantly throwing a book in your lap to read. I can zip through this book in about 4-5 minutes flat, getting it out of my son's blood for about an hour.Cons: (none. for the price, you really can't gripe about this book)To my 17 month old son, this book is awesome. He likes to try and make the various animals noises. Although, now I have a lot more to come up with given this book contains a lot more animals than his usual hard-back books. I would recommend this book to any parent looking to entertain their child with something other than a television.
My son loves animals and wants to work with them when he's older. I think this book could have been great, with some adjustments.PROS:- Beautiful pictures (the type you wish you could blow up and display on the wall). My favorite is the white horse running in the snow - gorgeous!- It includes a good variety of animal facts from all over the world.CONS:- The font is far too small to read without straining your eyes. You'll need to zoom in on every page that has the facts displayed.- Some of the images were't formatted properly to Kindle and span across 2 pages. (For example: hyena butt on one page, then the head on the next. That's great for print, but not for Kindle where you only see 1 page at a time).- While the facts are entertaining to read (for me as an adult), they are geared more toward 'big kids', and my son (8 years old in 2nd grade) lost interest on a lot of it since it's a lot of scientific terminology, etc.Overall, I do like this book, but it could be quite better with a bit of adjusting.*I only review products that I am genuinely interested in and have used, tested, tried. My opinion will always be 100% honest - if I love it, you'll know, if I don't, it will definitely reflect in my review. With that being said, I did receive this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.*
I personally really liked this book. I see the criticism on some of the reviews, in regards to poor wording and so forth, unfortunately i don't agree. It gives many small facts, which in turn is easier for kids to memorize. When you over whelm a child with too much information they only retain about a 1/3. So in regards to that, i loved the small amount of information of each animal. The pictures, Oh My lets talk about the pictures. The pictures alone in this book are worth it alone. The photographer really captured the essence of each animal. They showed how beautiful animals are. I was enthralled as much as my daughter was on this alone. I was disappointed that the book was so short, but i understand that too big equals overwhelming as well. My daughter has had my kindle in her possession, ever since we read it. I also want to touch base about the organization. I see people talk about the organization of the book, when i opened on my iPhone Kindle app, it was super hard to follow. When i opened it on my kindle Fire HD, it was organized and beautiful. So all in all i hope that helps someone else, debating on whether to get the book or not. I give this book a huge thumbs up!!!!
This is a simple picture book for children featuring a number of animals. I'm not exactly sure what age it is aimed at because it's written and presented as a small children's book, but it throws in very scientific statistics, as well as the scientific names for each animal also each's higher classification.I've reviewed several books by this publisher and their kid's books seem to be their best offerings.
